Identity & trust. @ 17:30

There was a period of time when various preachers kept preaching about our identity in God. Knowing our identity as sons and daughters of God positions us to receive the power of God upon our lives and be an effective vessel for Him.

I was reminded about this matter recently. I think many things can happen and draw your focus away from the primary things that makes us strong. Many things can happen and wreck your confidence on yourself. But always come back to the very thing that makes us a strong vessel for God – knowing your identity in Christ.

With that, I was reminded not to put my trust on people but on God. Man will disappoint but God will not. Like what was said in Psalms 20:7, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.” The word ‘remember’ in this context meant trust. Putting your trust in God protects you from getting hurt or disappointed when people let you down. In this way, you will be able to do what you need to do without a fear whether you will be disappointed because you know that at the end of the day, you can trust Him. God is sovereign and is in control.

So looking at it, it is only when you trust God, that you will know your identity. Knowing God first, and then serving Him second because relationships are built on trust and ministry is built on knowing your identity.
One thing I must give credit to my previous employment – I picked up certain basic IT skills just by observing and listening to how my colleagues troubleshoot IT problems in the office.

I started as someone who dislikes dealing with IT which results to becoming an IT idiot. Progressed on to deal with non technical IT matters; forced to be exposed to matters such as ERP system, email system, hardware & software matters. I progressed further to use certain software applications, gained some confidence to use new applications and deal with IT matters. And I moved on to learn how to build a basic website and how to use the Photoshop on my own; and downloaded design softwares through torrent.

Today, I have upgraded myself to be able to troubleshoot a little at home, i.e. buying PS/2 mouse. Hahaha! And I accomplished to create my own website with the some recommendation from experts on certain features. I spoke like a Junior IT staff. HAHAHAHA!!

I remember someone once said; “you need to have a 'in-built' talent in programming to know how to create a website.” Today, I can proudly say “I totally disagree”. I don’t think I have 'in-built' talent on anything related to IT. Like, SERIOUSLY. But with diligence, determination and passion, it’s never impossible.

Believe in yourself. You have a bigger capacity to what you think you can handle.

Dreams @ 00:05

Facing a certain pressure that anyone at my age and qualification would face if they are still unemployed.

Dad kept asking what I am doing at home. Mom kept asking how’s the online business which I have to keep reminding her that it has yet to be launched. People around are also asking what I am doing at this moment and all I can reply is I’m unemployed. Dad said I got to know what I want in life; it is not just about getting a qualification but doing what I have learnt too.

I do have an idea as to what I want to do eventually but I chose not to explain myself. All I can say is there is always a humble beginning for everybody but do not despise the days of small beginnings. And I believe in the power of One who is able to make all the impossible possible.

Burlesque @ 12:58

You can never comprehend how great a human heart is when it meets life challenges and roadblocks. You can never imagine how strong a person can become when being pushed by struggles in life. Your heart can sustain more than what you think you can.

After watching Burlesque, I can say it is really inspiring, especially the lyrics of ‘You haven’t seen the last of me’ by Cher. When someone is stretched beyond what they can imagine, the people that they allow to take advice from are really crucial; it can either push you forward and tell you that you can be stretched even more or pull you back and say ‘that’s it’. And there are certain special ones around them that will always believe that their ‘song’ is always ready – you can make it. They know how to make you believe that you are ready too.

‘Opportunities have shelf life’

Personally, I think the movie has displayed the realities of life and people. In life, you meet people who are genuine towards you and there are others that came close because they wanted to benefit from you. That’s a life skill to distinguish between the two as you meet various people and another life skill to know the boundaries that you should not cross over.
