I watched "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" with Hsuan and Danying yesterday.
I thought the movie has a deep meaning to life. As simple and mundane as it seems, that is what life is about. It is about fighting for what you want, blessing the people around, showing love and embrace differences, it is about taking risk and adventures.
What a movie to start 2014.
I reflected on 2013 and realize I could have been more courageous in saying I am good, or saying I am worth it, or saying I can do that. I realize a greater risk could have been taken to aim for the sun instead of the stars. I wrote a card to a friend saying not to settle for the second best because we all deserve the best in life. I wrote that without realizing that I myself have settled for the second best to stay in my comfort zone.
Walter Mitty was brave to take that jump. With that leap, the results can be breathtaking. If we will to write our life's journey into a book, what will be your done that, been there?
As I watched the movie, I kept tearing at the last few parts. I was reminded about the love of God. He is constantly watching out for us. He is constantly rooting for us to take that step to embark in the adventures of life. He believes in us so much that we can make it.
In life, there are many around who will belittle you and say what you cannot do. There will be those who forgot the simple things that you have done. Those who will look down on you and despise the little responsibility or position that you hold. Those who just work with you because circumstances brought you two together but that's about it. At the same time, there will be some who will tell you to take that risk to jump off. Some who says that you are an overcomer who conquer mountains. Some whom you will inspire along the way, and they take your positive energy to affect their life. And some who does little things with excellence for the greater purpose yet does not scream out for appreciation and attention like Walter Mitty - the forgotten and probably has the least promotion in life.
Sean O'Connell reminded me of God. The one who sees what you do at the backstage and appreciates you openly.
"Beautiful things don't ask for attention."
